Welcome to Sailing Coronado! We are John & Anna – an adventure-seeking, travel-loving couple currently exploring the world on SV Coronado, our 45’ Lagoon 450S catamaran. We love all of the experiences of travel: trying new food, experiencing different cultures, and meeting more of the fascinating people that inhabit planet Earth. We also love sailing and find our hearts are happiest when we are on the water. This combination makes exploring the world via sailboat pretty amazing!

This site was created to let our friends and family follow along on our journey. It’s also our place to document our adventure for our memories to look back on later. Hope Town, Abacos, Bahamas. We had a fun day exploring Hope Town. We climbed the 100 steps to the top of the lighthouse, and the views were amazing. Conch fritters at Captain Jack’s were delicious! We also ran into sailing friends we hadn’t seen since Annapolis. Great day, and loving the Bahamas! Now waiting on a good weather window to head North. We’ve had a lot of boats speed through the anchorage, but never a plane! 😬 Happy Monday! We have this beautiful island all to ourselves. 🥰 Coronado sittin’ pretty in the Bahamas! Lazy Sunday afternoon on Coronado Bahamas, baby! 🇧🇸 The water is a stunning shade of teal. ❤️ The passage was good… and challenging. 😰 600 NM, and we were able to sail almost the entire way, which was wonderful. But the first night, a reefing line gave out, spilling the sail onto the deck and ripping half the sail bag. As always, it happens at 4 am. We reset to the second reef and tackled repairs the next day. When sailing downwind, you need the right tool for the job. We haven’t flown this girl in a while! She’s happy to be out of the bag. 🥰 Bahamas Bound! 🌴☀️ We picked up anchor at sunset and bid “Adios” to Puerto Rico and the Spanish Virgin Islands. Next stop - Clarence Town, Bahamas! The trip will take about four days. We’ve only done one overnight sail since we got back to the Caribbean in November. We spent the day prepping food (trying to cook and chop everything ahead of time whenever possible) and making sure all the offshore safety equipment (jacklines/tethers etc) were set up and ready to go. We’ve often said when you’re sailing and things aren’t going well, you can’t simply get off the boat. Well... This guy found a solution to that problem!
